"I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing." ~Socrates
ACL Festival
All the drama of last week...didn't have time or emotion to share the festival. It was a good, hot (108 degrees!), and dusty weekend. So hot that Leslie Cochran (a famous Austinite homeless, mayorial candidate that also happens to be a crossdresser) showed up wearing only a hot pink thong. Plus, marajuana hazed hippies and yuppies running around in bikini's.
On Friday, I started with Casabian and ended with the Black Crowes. Unfortunately, I didn't drink enough water...nearly passed out during the Crows' show (luckily, I've fainted before and knew what was coming, so I just sat down in the crowd of several thousand for the last half), and forgot much of what I saw that day. Sadly, we had forgot our camera that day, thus I have no reminders of who/what/when...
Saturday we started around noon and remembered the camera...sadly, I can't seem to find all that we took. This was the day for Jet, Robert Randolph & The Family Band and Keane. I love Keane.
Sunday was an adventure in it's self. We started the day with Eisley, followed it with The Bravery and ended with Tortoise (a very talented, orchestra-like band). We didn't stick around for Coldplay, well, because Coldplay sucks.

The Bravery. This show was damn good. Unfortunately, I had nearly had a heart attack after losing my wedding rings (platinum, 2 carat family heirloom) and couldn't enjoy it for the most part. Luckily, they had only fallen under my chair. A lesson to never take off your jewelry to put on sun block at a music festival.

Oasis, who performed great and proved on stage that they are as arrogant as they come off in interviews and fell into more than a couple rages during the show.

Franz Ferdinand, which we ditched because it was just too damned crowded!

Coldplay, yep, the closest we got was the other end of the park. Took a picture just to prove that we all walked a
way from them.It was an all around good time and a reminder as to why I came to Austin. It is the only place I've ever truly felt to have fit in. A diverse population of musicians, hippies, techies, yuppies...all of 'em crazier than the rest of Texas. Yep. This is where I belong.
