DON'T PANIC!!!
Last night we went to see the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (please see my bookmarks for the trailer), as it finally opened in theatres. It was a very fun movie to sit through, in my opinion.
I've never read the books, but it's best that way I think, or I would have had disappointments and would have dwelled on all of all the errors like my husband did rather than enjoy the brilliant dry humor of the brits (I myself have a very dry humor and live for shows like Are You Being Served?). He loves the books, having read them over and over, and found the errors encroached on the pictures he had already placed in his mind (such as the placement of Zaphod's 2nd head).
I understand how he felt, as I went through the same inner beratement after watching all of The Lord of the Rings movies. Awesome movies, but they lacked so much of the wonder of Mr. Tolkien's story.
I understand that it is impossible to put an entire novel to film due to time constraints, and so I do not judge to harshly the end result...but I still feel the bitter disappointment, as my dear Chris did last night.
I'm ready to read Mr. Adam's stories now, as it works out better this way. By the last page, I'm sure I'll still feel satisfied with the movie and in awe of the story it's self.
For now, "So long and thanks for all the fish!"
