"I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing." ~Socrates
Down Memory Lane
I lived in Lusk for nearly all of my life...as a baby, as a toddler...then there was pre-school. During the preschool years (when I was around 4) the family decided to move back to California (where grandma's closest brother lived and she lived a large part of her life). Grandma found someone to manage the cafe, sold the house and we headed west.
I remember only bits and pieces of that period. I remember a large spiral staircase...a wall of mirrors...taking the bus to preschool...my first trike...
All just tiny glimpses to that time, but still when they cross my mind I remember being happy.
Grandma was so sad to have to go back to Lusk, but the management of the cafe was running all of her hard work downhill...so we went back.
For a brief time we stayed in these downtown apartments (downtown Lusk isn't all that) while grandma decided which house she wanted. She was down to 2 choices: what would become the Lenz' house on snobhill (yes, even Podunk has one of these) or our house. I'm so glad she chose our home. It was a 100X's better than the other...of course, I may be prejudicial.
But where was I going?
Ah yes...
I just think it's amazing how some miniscule memory can bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart...Some things in life truly are magical.
