"I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing." ~Socrates
Hello, Mr. President
You know how you feel about Brad Pitt or Halle Barry? That's how I feel about our politicians. Meeting them makes me weak in the knees, fluffy in the head, and red from head to toe...and that's just my reaction to the everyday leaders of state government. Can you even imagine my glee with a leader of the free world? It was simply amazing, to me anyway.
What was the most exciting was they brought him through the fire exit right by my desk, so as he came in he stopped in our cubes and offices to greet us.
I have a window office, but he wasn't going to go down that hall so I relocated myself to an empty cubicle. I was lucky to get a handshake, warm smile and a "Hi, how are you doing?"
"Hello! I'm good, sir, how are you today?"
"Good, good! Thank you for asking." as he extended his hand to the co-worker in the cube behind me, to whom he said, "Hey, man." in that slow southern style.
It seemed such a long time he was with us, but it surely was less than two minutes of him going through our hall to the lobby for his brief speech, which consisted mainly of banter between him and my bosses about their nearly 34 year friendship followed by an update on his new job with the UN.
What surprised me most, was how frail he seemed. He's lost a lot of weight, and his hand felt so old. You can sense he's still weak from his heart troubles. This matters not, though, as he is still strong of heart and morality. He is still fighting the good fight for the weak and downtrodden. Such a brilliant and charismatic man...
Alas, the moment is over, but it is truly a day I will never forget.
Just outside my office, coming through the fire escape...carrying a Lantana flower.

Being introduced by Roy and Judy (another one of our agency founders and friend of the Clintons).

Giving his speech.
