Memories
Isn't it funny how your memory of a moment or time can be different than your own? Or how something you remember strongly has, most likely, been wiped clean from another's mind?
For example, I remember vividly being "in love" with a boy in kindergarten and first grade. I remember holding hands as we walked across the playground to music class. I remember playing on "the hill" with him and a few other kids. I remember him being teased by another boy (as girls still had cooties, at that time) for being with a girl and him pretending I didn't exist for a few days.
I don't think he remembers this at all...not that I've ever asked, or will ever, but I'm fairly certain that he doesn't.
I remember, in the second grade, a boy in the first grade would run up to me and give me a charliehorse (totally unprovoked!) everytime we were in the halls. I know for a fact he does not remember doing this as we discussed it in high school.
I remember so many things...moments...feelings...stuff that other's put out of their heads.
Is it odd that my head conjures up all of these pictures? Is it more common to quickly put the past behind you?
It's something I just have never been able to do...nor would I want to. Memories are what make you into the person you become, I think...perhaps that is why some things are so easy to forget for most...the ability to pick and choose what was important and what was rubbish.
Every memory I have is important, I wouldn't throw any of them away or allow them to just vanish...but then again, perhaps there is someone out there that remembers something about me that they felt was worth more than I did...if so, I'd like to hear it, good or bad...
