"I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing." ~Socrates
My New Favorite Band
I had seen a couple of this band's videos on the Austin Music Network, and loved their sound. It's sad and beautiful all at once. Highly recommended.
They are playing the Austin City Limits Festival this fall, which I'm not going to miss. Three days of terrific music in Zilker Park. I'm too excited, which is unusual as I typically hate the crowds at this event. It is so hard to get in a good place for the bands you want to see. I got a decent view of Nicklecreek in '03, and (after pushing through a mile of people) we got pretty close to Robert Randolph and the Family Band while they were on one of the stages...but I had to sit like two miles away for Ween.
The line up this year consists of some of my favorites: Keane, Oasis, Coldplay and Blue October...plus many more (130 bands total, some big names, some still unknown goodies...see bookmark to understand the enormity of this event). Of course, many have seen Austin City Limits on PBS, I'm sure, to know that it is a festival of pure talent of all genres.
We were just notified today that our (the agency's) discounted ($85 each!)tickets will be available the first week of June, so I'm extremely "pumped" (don't tell my family, they think I'm never excited about anything...generally true, but not always). A benefit of having SBC as a client, as they are the main sponsor of the festival.
Hooray for me!! My life so kicks ass sometimes...not in the "I won the lottery!" way, but in the "Hey, I didn't die today and received a small reward for my hard work." way.
I'm trying to start celebrating the small stuff, it keeps me grounded and my faith strong.
