Ode To Capitalism

Personally, I think it's a near-perfect system. Work for what you want, earn what you get. Another term for it?

RESPONSIBILITY

No one else is responsible for your personal happiness or wealth.

I grow tired of everyone who isn't attaining personal success blaming their woes on capitalism. Especially in today's society when money is thrown at you to educate and better yourself, in order to become part of that higher ranking society.
Even the uneducated, can become part of that society. Take roughnecks for example. My uncle has worked for Halliburton for decades as a roughneck. Through the job he has made more money in a year than I do in close to three. He has travelled the world. He has built the log cabin of his dreams. He works one of the hardest, dirtiest jobs to earn all of it.
The problem with our society isn't capitalism, it's laziness. People think that everything should be given to them on a platter. I find this to be nothing more than pathetic.
There is no such thing as a work ethic in this society anymore, and it makes me sick. People have turned into babies who want the government to take care of them and their needs, instead of adults with a sense of personal responsibility.
My grandmother slaved in her cafe for over 40 years to be successful. She awoke every morning at 3:00 to get to the cafe by 4:30 to start baking the day's pies, cooking the day's soups and preparing the day's specials to be ready when the doors opened at 6:00. She'd then stand over the grill through the noon rush, slip home for an hour nap and return to the cafe until closing time, at which point she'd finish up with the end of day cleaning. She worked 7 days a week, building the life she wanted.
Now THAT is an amazing woman.
This is a reason I don't have a problem with people crossing the border, because someone has to do the jobs Americans have become to lazy to perform. Americans think they are "above" janitorial work, they are "too good" for restaurant work, they are "overqualified" for labor work. Who else is going to do it in order to keep another American sitting on their ass at some desk job where they can jerk off on the internet all day?
I'll bet you money that most of those crossing the border to do our real work, think that capitalism is a gift from one of their patron saints. We think of it as something to blame the ruin of our lives on.
I say, "Hooray" for capitalism...and this is one of the few reasons I still have hope for America. Everytime I hear about wasted government funding I dream of shipping all of the people with their hands out to a small deserted island.
...but that's just me.
