The house has ok'd drilling in Alaska. This so-called energy bill will most likely pass the final vote tomorrow. Bush says the passage will send a message that the country "is serious about solving America's energy problems". What a joke.
If the country was serious about it, they'd stop buying Hummers for the sole purpose of bank account exhibition.
If the country was serious about it, they'd push the development of hydrogen fueled cars harder.
If the country was serious about it, they'd stop attempting to tear up Alaska for a few extra barrels.
If the country was serious about it, they'd sign the Kyoto Pact.
If the country was serious about it, they'd all be car pooling.
This country is not serious about anything but self-gratification.
Not just this country, but all countries. All of mankind. All we are good for is tearing up this planet. How I wish I was born in the times before industrialism. Maybe in those times, I could have more respect for my fellow man. Perhaps, in those times I could see the good of which humans should be capable of.
I don't belong in this present time, which can only be descibed by future generations as the Era of Indulgence, Guilty Pleasure, Insensativity and Laziness.
