I have finally been able to get to read The Da Vinci Code
without the distractions of other books, and I must say, I am intrigued.
I have often wondered how Christianity became so rooted in our lives as truth,
when it has only been around for 2000 years. I've been torn on the idea of
Jesus, never denying the man's existence but often questioning his deity
status. I've long felt the man was a great human being, sacrificing himself for
mankind, but have never been able to see him as the perfect man.
After watching The Passion of The Christ, I was moved to tears watching how he
endured torture at the hand of fellow men and I never wavered in believing that
Jesus was indeed a brave, righteous soul. A man who put others' lives ahead of
his own, but still just a man.
Dan Brown's novel has made me see that maybe my ideas of Jesus are more the
reality of Jesus. He was a great man, a great prophet and he was human. A human
life that simply promoted one thing and that is to be good to each other.
Jesus, as a person, is my hero...my mentor. Everyday, I place everyone else on
a pedestal and attempt to make their lives better. I don't know that I could go
to the lengths that Jesus did, though...that takes pure heart, immeasurable
bravery...but I'd like to think that, if put to the test, I would fight it out
until the end.
All of this is just a small part of the big picture, and I anticipate reading
more about Merovingian Kings, the sacred feminine, and Constantine's formation of the Church. I've
also always loved Da Vinci as one of the great Masters (as seen in my personal
picture), but have never really delved much into his genius in engineering and
science. I think I'd like to look more deeply into his other talents, as well
as his pranks.
I do so love when I find something of interest! It's such a rarity as I get
older.
