Salary Question
Tags: income

The State of Texas
is having some trouble passing the school budget, with Special Sessions coming
and going without any resolution. Perhaps instead of finding ways to tax us
more to pay for it, they should look into cutting internal salaries?

Elected officials are looking for a raise.

Tell me why someone making $70K - $100K needs a pay increase? Why does a person
who was given their position by the people, typically in a poor position, need
a raise to an income which is double what the average American brings home?
Twice as much as many two income homes? The State's District Attorney brings
home $102K a year, as does the Sheriff. JOP's are paid in the $90K range.

Where is the justice in this situation?

This question is not just for the state level, but the federal. Why is our
president (not just Bush, but any president of the past and future) worth $400K
per year plus accommodations, meals and, surely, the best health care provided? Pretty extreme hazard pay for someone who has the best (and most) free of charge bodyguards, I think.

I'm truly perplexed on the logic of this...and a bit disgusted.
