Voting Today
I have to go vote today. City Council and what not.
The most important thing on the ballot being the Smoking Ban. Of course, I'm against it. Already in Austin, you can not smoke in eateries, this is ok with me as I truly don't enjoy smoke while I'm eating. The current ordinance in place is sufficient.
Now they want to ban it in the bars and clubs. I live in the Live Music Capital of The World, we have a lot of bars and clubs. We have a historical street packed with clubs (sado clubs, piano bars, gay clubs, dance clubs, all kinds for all the different preferences). Around 30% of which have their own personal ban, which is great.
A smoking ban is crossing the line. Taking decisions away from the owner and his patrons...I'm tired of the government telling me what I can or can not do.
I'm thinking of moving on to the Libertarian party, which I think is where a lot of Americans really belong. I think perhaps, they have gotten lost in the fight between Republicans and Democrats and do not truly feel at ease claiming either party, as both have strayed so far from their beginning purpose.
Check and see where you belong, take this short quiz ...you might be surprised to find that you've dedicated your vote or opinion to a party that does not suit you.
I'm off to the polls!!
